TAU  Chapter,   the  nineteenth  chapter  of  Delta  Sigma  Theta  Sorority,   Incorporated,  is the first Black Greek Lettered  Organization to be  established on the campus of  Wayne State University.  They are continuously dedicated to providing educational, beneficial, and exciting programs to the students of Wayne State University.

TAU Chapter was chartered  on January 24, 1924 and  the  original  charter  members  are  Mamie  Green  Alexander, Eolyn  Klugh  Guy,  Hazel Shaw Maynard, Elizabeth Vinegar and  Helene  Tines. 

At its inception, TAU  chapter  was  one that  consisted of  undergraduate  members  from Universities  within  the city  limits  of  Detroit, as well as undergraduate students.

On May 13, 1939 TAU chapter was rechartered specifically to the campus of   Wayne   State   University.  The  recharter  members  are  Beryl Anderson,   Gertrude Bailey,   Lillian Brown,  Jinnie Calfee,  Kathleen Coote,  Marjorie Dunbar, Josephine Gaines, Edna Hardnett, Frances Horner, Clara Stanton Jones, Emmeta Verlie Morton, Eleanor  Osborne,  Esther  Price,  Beulah  Robinson,   Mamie  Simms,  Jerolean  Sneed,  Bernice Steward, Christine  Tandy,  Charlotte  Watt and  Bernice White.

TAU is continually dedicated to Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.  They work hard to remain in the forefront on campus and in the City of Detroit.

TAU chapter currently participates in Focus: HOPE,   Project Save-A-Life, Coats   for Kids, Project Compassion, and Adopt-A-Highway – just to name a few! TAU chapter also serves the community through mentorship programs, scholarship funds, health and finance seminars, blood, food, book and clothing drives, voter registration, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes and several other programs.
