	So, you want to join a Sorority? Do you even know why? Have you done SUBSTANTIAL RESEARCH on the organization you desire to pursue? These answers lie in you. If you don't know your reasons for pursuing, what reasons do members have to choose you? Don't make your decision based on superficial reasons, i.e. "they can step" or "they can dress!" Keep an open mind, and look into all possibilities. Membership in Black Greek Lettered Organizations, are lifelong commitments and the decision to pursue membership in any should not be taken lightly. Ask questions and get to know the members. See if they are the types of people with whom you even desire to associate yourself. The members are what make the organization, and when deciding to pursue membership, you should ask yourself: "how can I be an asset?" Many are called but FEW are chosen, if you are unable to pinpoint your assets, members will not be able to either. Since acquiring membership in Delta is NOT a prerequisite for graduation, NO chapter is under *ANY* obligation to choose *ANY* given candidate. If you have decided to pursue membership in Delta, acquire and maintain high scholastic achievement! The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, were scholars, and our Sisterhood is based on Scholarship and Service. Besides, you owe it to yourself to achieve academic excellence--that is afterall your reason for attending college, not joining a sorority. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!!! Do NOT ask chapter members directly, nor indirectly, of membership criteria. Any general pertinent information about our organization can be found on the Official Online Publication of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Any other information will ONLY be disseminated at the chapter’s discretion! It is important to remember, that sustaining all minimum criteria of eligibility does NOT guarantee you will be invited to membership. Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. reserve the right to reject ANY applicant for ANY reason. RESEARCH an organization on a national and local level. RESEARCH the chapter's history, in which you will be seeking membership. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is NOT a SOCIAL ORGANIZATION, nor do we RECRUIT! We are a SERVICE ORGANIZATION, and IF a potential member is given the privilege of an invite to join our Supreme Sisterhood, she must come prepared to WORK! As a wise Soror once said… "Do not bring your NOTHINGNESS to Delta!" Will you be an active member? The kind that would be missed Or will you just be content That your name is on the list? Will you attend the meetings? And mingle with the flock Or will you just meet in private And criticize and "knock?" Will you take an active part? To help the work along Or will you be satisfied to be The kind that just belongs? Will you work on committees? To these is no trick Or leave the work to just a few And talk about the clique? Please come to meetings often And help with hand and true heart Don’t just be a member, But one who takes an active part Think it over potential members You know what’s right from wrong Will you be an active member?
